Adult companion robotics
Robot partners are already for sale. The word “robot” is doing a lot of work.
Britain already has AI-equipped human-form companions listed from a few thousand pounds to more than £60,000. Most are much less autonomous than the phrase “robot girlfriend” or “robot boyfriend” tends to imply.
The interesting question is how much of the body is actually robotic.
At the lower end, current products often combine a largely passive body with powered head or neck movement and conversational software. The expensive X04-SYNC2 adds articulated facial movement, arms and hands, but we have not found convincing evidence of autonomous walking.
That distinction matters more than whether the chatbot is branded as “AI”. We track conversation, vision, memory, physical actuation and mobility separately.

Cloud Climax currently lists a newer Emma configuration with a silicone head/body choice at £4,220 and a 10–16 week made-to-order lead time. Where this probably goes next
The technical convergence is fairly obvious: better humanoid actuation, persistent multimodal AI, realistic expression, tactile sensing and consumer-scale manufacturing. The timing is not. Lovense is currently taking refundable reservations for an AI Doll with Q1 2027 as its stated shipping target, while lifelike emotional humanoids are already on sale in China.
